People & Performance - The Hartman Profile The Hartman Value Profile is distinctive because it focuses on value tendencies and a person’s judgment. Some instruments assess thinking patterns; others assess emotional intelligence, personality styles, decision making approaches, approaches to managing conflict or other variables involved in how we make decisions. The purpose of the Hartman Value Profile is to gain deeper insight into the decision making judgment capacitiesof individuals. Successful performance is a combination of competency and good judgment. Any candidate for employment or promotion should be considered from the perspective of competency understood as skill sets that are gained through education, experience, and training. In addition to competency, judgment is essential. The following equation summarizes the realities of individual and collective performance: Competence + Good Judgment = Excellence Competency and good judgment will also be the basis for the best behavior, performance, morale, and cooperation. Having the capacity to make good judgments is an indispensable aspect of life and work; people of good judgment will always be a beneficial addition to any work environment and to any community. Wisdom, good common sense, and good judgment are rare commodities. The Profile hopes to help locate these powerful qualities so they can be used effectively for the benefit of both the individual and the organization. The Profile helps support and advance the realization of organizational values and goals.
Why it Matters The United States will be increasingly ‘labor short.’ The cost of labor will rise and those organizations that are able to attract and retain a strong work force can be expected to outperform those that are not able to. Workforce shortages affect the ability of the organization to provide care Health care organizations with higher retention and lower turnover have lower costs of care than those that have higher turnover. Organizations with lower turnover have better returns on investment.
